The sky was aglow with a burnt orange hue as students, parents, teachers, and other community members gathered around paper lanterns filled with LED candles. As dusk approached, the MVHS Madrigals performed melodies that carried into the breeze.
Some attendees walked laps around the track clad in t-shirts provided at the event along with green mental health awareness ribbon pins and an assortment of colored beaded necklaces with different personal mental health meanings. Others strolled around booths and sat on the turf to enjoy performances and speeches.
On April 18, from 5:30 PM to sunset, MVHS ambassadors in collaboration with LAHS SCL hosted the annual Unity Walk for suicide prevention awareness on the football field. The event featured multiple booths of different mental health organizations, performances by student poets and musicians, and speakers of different ages who shared their experiences about mental health.
