The Mountain View boys basketball secured a win against Los Altos 56-32 on Friday, Jan. 31.
The Spartans started off the game strong, with the team entering the second quarter with a 14-8 lead.
“The whole team had a lot of energy from the get go,” senior center Jaden Feller said.
During the 2nd quarter, MVHS continued their offensive momentum. Feller and senior guards Will Chesley and Jayden Minor scored crucial points during the period, giving the Spartans a 27-18 lead entering halftime.
The MVHS defense stepped up in the third quarter with Los Altos only being able to score four points, increasing the Spartan lead to 39-22.
The start of the fourth quarter was intense with Minor and Feller connecting for an alley-oop.
“That was one of my favorite plays of the year, not just tonight,” head coach Kevin Mack said.
The game ended 56-32 in favor of the Spartans, securing MVHS’s second win of the season against the Eagles. After the game, the team also celebrated Minor surpassing 1000 points in his career at MVHS.
“That’s a really big milestone not a lot of people are gonna hit in their basketball career,” Feller said.
Feller attributed the win to the Spartans’ team effort, with everyone playing a key role in the team’s success.
“These guys should enjoy it because they worked hard to get the win,” Mack said.
