The girls volleyball team lost 2-3 against Los Altos on Thursday, Sep. 26, in a competitive, close match.
The game started competitively, with the Eagles taking an early five-point lead in the first set. However, the Spartans quickly bounced back and won the set 25-20.
Los Altos recovered by winning the next two sets, both finishing 25-17 in favor of the Eagles.
“I think that the team was a little nervous,” head Coach Oscar Figueroa said. “Definitely on the second and third set.”
Figueroa said that the crowd energy picked up around the start of the fourth set, which helped contribute to the Spartans winning 25-23.
However, this final push was not enough for MVHS as Los Altos would take a quick lead in the fifth set and maintain it, leading to a 9-15 set win for the Eagles. This would hand the win to the Eagles, 3-2.
Looking back at the game, Figueroa wasn’t too disappointed with his team’s performance.
“Overall, I think the girls went in there and put a lot of effort in picking up set after set,” Figueroa said. “So I’m proud of the girls.”
