Tons of swimmers swarm all sides of the pool inside and outside of the practice lanes, chatting with friends and family in the stands as they wait for their events. Their chatter is every so often interrupted with a strong chant of “Go! Go! Go!” as they watch their teammates power through their events.

MVHS’s junior varsity and varsity swim teams faced off with Santa Clara this Friday, finishing the meet with a win and concluding the teams’ second meet of the season.
One of the team captains, Ashwin Talwalker, said this meet “went better for everyone, including [himself.]”

“The weather’s better, we’re going against a great school. Santa Clara’s been a great opponent and just in general the vibe is much better,” Talwalker said. “We got another week under our belt, we know how it works.”

While not technically the first season back in the pool since the pandemic, Talwalker said last year’s was “unusual and short,” making this year’s season all the more exciting.
