Oracle’s Week Reviews: May 10 – May 15

This week’s games were a mixed bag of wins and losses. Although this wasn’t MVHS’s best week in terms of overall performance, things could have been much worse. Overall, MVHS won a total of 8 out of 20 games this week.

Monday, May 10th:

JV/V Boys Baseball vs. Los Gatos

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Boys Baseball teams played at – home against Los Gatos. The Junior Varsity team suffered a crushing defeat, with an overall score of 7 – 0, with their record being 6 – 2 on the year. The Varsity team, on the other hand, won a close match with a total score of 8 – 7. It was so close, the game was decided by a clutch RBI by Gabe Barrett and Chase Yocum. Their record is now 9 – 2 on the year.

Tuesday, May 11th:

V Girls Water Polo @ Gunn

The Varsity Girls Water Polo team faced off in an away game against Palo Alto. MVHS unfortunately lost this match with a score of 2 – 16. This leaves the team with a record of 0 – 5 on the year.

JV/V Girls Basketball @ Monta Vista

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls Basketball teams played in an away game against Monta Vista. The Junior Varsity team lost this match, with a total score of 23 – 41, with their record being 0 – 2 on the year. The Varsity team also lost, with a total score of 32 – 53, with a record of 3 – 6 on the year. 

Wednesday, May 12th:

JV/V Baseball vs. Palo Alto

The Junior Varsity and Varsity Baseball teams played an at-home match against Palo Alto. Despite the home advantage, both teams lost to Palo Alto. The Junior Varsity team scored 7 – 2, with a record of 7 – 3 on the year. The Varsity team scored 12 – 7, with a record of 9 – 4 on the year. 

V Boys Basketball @ Homestead

The Varsity Boys Basketball team played an away game against Homestead. Being toe-to-toe throughout the match, MVHS won in overtime with a total score of 68 – 63. Their record is now 8 – 2 on the year. 

Thursday, May 13th:

JV/V Softball vs. Wilcox

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Softball teams faced off against Wilcox at home. In a fortunate turn of events, both teams won by an overwhelming margin. The Junior Varsity team scored 20 – 3, with a record of 4 – 0 on the year. The Varsity team scored 17 – 3, with a record of 5 – 2 on the year. 

V Girls Water Polo vs. Harker

The Varsity Girls Water Polo team faced off against Harker in an at-home match. MVHS unfortunately suffered a crushing defeat, with an overall score of 13 – 4 and a record of 0 – 5 on the year.

Friday, May 14th:

JV/V Girls Bball vs. Monta Vista

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls Basketball teams played in an at-home game against Monta Vista. Despite the home advantage, both teams lost. The Junior Varsity team scored 39 – 29, gaining little ground throughout the game. Their record is now 0 – 2 on the year. The Varsity team scored 50 – 44, with a record of 3 – 6 on the year. 

JV/V Baseball vs. Palo Alto

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Baseball teams faced off against Palo Alto at-home. The Junior Varsity team won with a close score of 3 – 2, with their record being 7 – 3 on the year. The Varsity team did not share this success. They overwhelmingly lost with a score of 10 – 0, with a record of 9 – 4 on the year. 

V Boys Basketball vs. Homestead

The Varsity Boys Basketball team faced off against Homestead in an intense at-home match. In the end, MVHS won with a score of 62 – 57, with an overall record of 8 – 2 on the year.

Saturday, May 15th:

V Softball vs. Fremont

The Varsity Softball team played against Fremont in an at-home game. MVHS fortunately triumphed with a score of 11 – 2, with a record of 5 – 3 on the year.

JV/V Boys Basketball vs. Santa Clara

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Boys Basketball teams played against Santa Clara at home. The Junior Varsity team won by a considerable margin, with a score of 49 – 30, leaving them with a record of 3 – 2 on the year. The Varsity team, however, lost against their opponent with a score of 64 – 40, leaving them with a record of 8 – 3 on the year.
