As of Sep. 28, 2020, Santa Clara County health officials have declared trick or treating a high-risk activity because it increases contact with people other than those in the same household. Celebrating with candy and treats is still a crucial part of Halloween, so here are some fun and easy recipes to try while staying safe during this spooky season.
Candy Corn Rice Krispy Treats
- Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a pot
- Add one bag of marshmallows and stir until melted
- Add orange food coloring, mix
- Add 5-6 cups of rice crispy treats, mix
- Transfer to a heat-safe container and let cool
- While rice crispy treats are hardening, melt chocolate and white candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, mixing in between
- Cut hardened rice crispy treats into triangles
- Dip the top end of the triangle into the white candy melts
- Dip bottom half into chocolate
- Refrigerate until hardened and serve
Spooky Chocolate Covered Strawberries
- Wash strawberries and pat dry
- Melt chocolate and white candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, mixing in between
- Dip the strawberries into the white candy melts
- Let chill in the refrigerator until hardened
- Add three dots of chocolate with a toothpick or piping bag to look like a ghost and serve
Zombie Brain Cupcakes
- Follow directions on the box
- Bake cupcakes as suggested
- Let cool
- Spread a thin layer of pink frosting on each cupcake
- Pipe pink frosting in a squiggly design on each half of the cupcake
