For the month of November, teachers Brendan Dilloughery and Jared Darby are among the thousands of people around the world who grew mustaches order to raise awareness and spark a conversation about prostate cancer and men’s health.
“Eighty percent of men that live to the age of eighty will get prostate cancer,” Dilloughery said. “My father-in-law passed away two years ago from prostate cancer. This means that my son is at a higher risk of contracting prostate cancer as he grows older. I believe it is every man’s, and every person who knows and loves a man’s, job to help cure this disease.”
Darby said that his mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when he was young, which sparked him to vow to help and support cancer-beating organizations.
Darby alone has raised $2,000 through the Movember website, and together Darby and Dilloughery have been able to raise an additional $2,000 through the school.
In the final days of Movember, Darby begins shaving off his contribution to the project.

Darby involves his family in the project aimed to raise awareness for men’s cancer and overall health.
Dilloughery sported his mustache around campus as he looked to educate as many people as possible and show his support for the cause.
“I am part of Movember, a movement to raise money and awareness for men’s health through the growing of amazing mustaches,” Dilloughery said.
