This year’s Winterball dance will be held Jan. 27 in the Imperial Ballroom of the San Jose Fairmont Hotel from 8 p.m. to midnight. Associated Student Body organizers chose the theme “Winter Wonderland,” which Dance Coordinator Brianna Sauter described as a “nice, classic theme that a lot of people will enjoy.”
According to Sauter, there will be giant versions of games like Jenga and Connect Four, as well as air hockey, basketball, board games, and a photo booth. Similarly, the Back to School dance in August offered giant Jenga and other games directed toward students who preferred not to dance.
Sauter said that the variety of activities besides dancing is a result of ASB’s goal to include a wider variety of people.
“[ASB wants] to show everybody that we are representing the student body,” Sauter said. “ASB’s goal for this dance is to make people excited about an outside venue.”
Senior Mae Hubel said she is looking forward to seeing her classmates dress up.
“It’s fun to see each person’s transformation and individuality come out,” Hubel said. “I’m also excited to see the venue.”
Tickets are currently on sale for $40 with ASB membership and $45 without. They can be purchased at the Finance Office until 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 and online until midnight on Jan. 25.
