Something that irritates me to no end is when somebody says, “Thank god it’s May! It’s almost over!”. The it I assume they are referring to is the stress of school that is supposedly dissipating with the onset of summer. But here’s the thing, almost is not the same as actually. By definition, almost is a word that lets people down. You almost survived; you almost got an A, you almost got the guy. So really, when you tell me that the stress is almost over, you should know that I’ll almost be listening. Continue reading

AP Civics/Econ? Not over John Locke’s dead body!

After the long and tiring hours of AP history notes through sophomore and junior year, some students are grateful for the singular history option for seniors: college-prep Civics and Economics. No Advanced Placement, not even an honors option, just one simple box that everyone must check. On the other hand, there are also many students who protest this administrative decision, wanting the chance to challenge themselves with a more rigorous course load, while also giving them a greater edge for getting admitted to college.
