For the past few months, Mountain View High School’s National Honor Society has been orchestrating their chapter project. This year, it was a Senior Ball which was held Saturday May 14, at The Terraces at Los Altos. Here are a few pictures from the event. The event included a photo booth, Jeopardy, Bingo, and refreshments.
“The idea was to try and volunteer, give them a good time, really try and show ourselves in the community. And it was a really cool event, also, because…it’s just different generations coming together, sharing information, seeing what our experiences are like,” Colton Stearns, MVHS senior and member of NHS, said.
Planning the event was definitely a team effort.
“Some of us baked stuff, some of us set up, some of us cleaned up at the end, all of us were just there during the event,” Stearns said. “And you know, that’s what I love about the club… It’s just a team effort with almost everything we do.”
In deciding what to do for their senior project, they knew they wanted to create a fun way to volunteer for the community while also being able to make a tangible impact.
“It was fun, I had a good time. I would say it went very smoothly. I’m happy we did it,” Stearns said.
Some other activities that NHS does include volunteering at soup kitchens and doing beach clean-ups. Their main focus is to help the community both as a group and individual.
