Freshman gathered for orientation at MVHS on Monday, Aug. 6, to learn about campus through cheers and games.
In the large gym, freshmen received their name tags, lined up on the bleachers, and competed in a balloon relay. After, they were joined by their pod leaders, made up of Ambassadors and ASB members. In the pods, freshmen played games and got to know each other before traveling around campus to get their IDs, schedules, and other materials for the school year.
Freshman Lauren Giroud said she was excited about starting high school. As the first in her family to go to high school in America, Giroud said she was excited to take AP French and learn more about her country of birth.
Fellow freshman Grant Nielson said he was excited about the opportunities the campus has. In addition to playing badminton, Nielson said that he looked forward to taking Algebra Honors and to taking electives like computer science.
“I’m excited to make new friends and also play board games,” Nielson said.
