Marti McGuirk, a former school counselor, was welcomed as an addition to the school’s assistant principal team at last night’s school board meeting.
McGuirk, who will be in charge of the class of 2025, made her assistant principal debut at Freshman Orientation on August 4th.
She has been working at the school for 22 years, serving her first seven years as an english teacher and then serving as a school counselor and counseling department coordinator. McGuirk said she is elated to take on this new position.
“MVHS has been my professional home for my entire career,” McGuirk said.
McGuirk’s main responsibilities will fall under mental health, encompassing student services and wellness. She will also work closely with the Special Education Department and be responsible for alcohol/drug interventions, attendance, food service, and Foothill College dual enrollment, among other topics.
“I’m looking forward to collaborating with students and staff and parents and the community as a whole on wellness issues,” McGuirk said. “I’m also excited to work with the freshman class. I feel lucky that I get to see them through their entire journey.”
