School officials confirmed that rising junior Eddie Keep, born Sep. 17, 2001, passed away Aug. 5 at the age of 16. At MVHS, Keep participated in both Marching Band and Symphonic Band as a strong member of the music department. In a letter to parents, Principal David Grissom said the district would not be disclosing the cause of death, in honor of the family’s request. According to Grissom, a private service will be held for close friends and family members of Keep. For students affected by the loss, CHAC therapists, district administrators, and teachers will be available to provide support services, Grissom’s letter said.
