The Oracle sat down with varsity girls volleyball player, senior Becky Slattery, to find out more about her volleyball career. Slattery has been a valuable asset to the MVHS varsity team since her freshman year, and is expected to have another successful season this fall.
How long have you been playing?
“I’ve been playing since I was 10, so 7 years.”
What inspires you to play?
“My parents kinda put me into to it since I was tall and they said just go for it. I didn’t really want to play, it just happened.”
What is your favorite memory of volleyball?
“My favorite memory was winning the Junior National Championships when I was 15.”
Teammate: senior Bailey Rogers: “Becky is really dedicated and always looks out for the whole team. Not only is she really talented but she’s also extremely smart and is eager to help others on the team. I’m so happy I get to play with her.”
Coach MAC: “Becky has done a great job so far. As a captain, she has led by her actions both on and off the court. On the court, she leads by her passion and her play. Off the court, she has helped to gel our pretty young team.”
Come see Slattery and the rest of the varsity girls volleyball team play Monta Vista at Mountain View on Thursday, September 20 at 6:45 p.m.
