The Spartans beat the Wilcox Chargers 26-7 and celebrated graduating seniors on Monday at their last home game of the season.
“It’s exciting to have a senior night the first year that we have the sport,” senior Ellie Westgate said.
Both teams started slow, as neither could advance the ball down the field. However, the Chargers scored a touchdown to put MVHS down early, 0-7.
In the second half, the Spartans’ offense began clicking and junior Leilani Tanielu scored a touchdown to tie the game 7-7. Senior Alana Hernandez scored two more touchdowns, including a pick six, and sophomore Megan Pan rushed another in for a final score of 26-7.
“We did a lot better coming together as a team and having good energy,” Westgate said.
