During Back to School Night last night, Aug. 29, parents gathered at MVHS to learn about their student’s classes. Dr. Glazer and two PTSA members kicked off the night with a speech, followed by the Madrigals’ rendition of the National Anthem before the parents were released to relive their highschool days.
Parents followed their student’s seven class period schedule throughout the night.
“The purpose of back to school night is to welcome our parents back to Mountain View’s campus– or perhaps to Mountain View for the first time…[and] to hear about the amazing things that their kids will be learning about,” Assistant Principal Daniella Quinones said.
A highlight for her was that Back to School Night could be hosted in the main quad after the construction had blocked it off for the past five years.
“We’re excited to kick off the 24-25 school year and we’ve had a great turnout from parents, so we’re really gracious and excited for the school year,” Quinones said.
With a daughter in her senior year, it was parent Chung Ping’s fourth time at Back to School Night. Having seen the construction on the school over the years, Ping said she liked the new buildings.
“I want[ed] to come check out the classrooms and meet the teachers in person,” parent Chung Ping said. “I like the community [and] all the parents.”
Sophomore Nikolai Hernandez and Asher Christensen said that it was fun to socialize with the parents and help them learn about the campus while helping them find their next classes between periods.
“I enjoy helping people,” Nikolai said. “It’s something that brings me happiness.”
