Board Trustee Fiona Walter announced Elvis Lopez as the district’s new Director of Fiscal Services on Oct. 25. 

“It is a pleasure becoming a director of fiscal services here at MVLA,” Lopez said while addressing the board for his promotion. “I would like to thank the district and the board members for providing this opportunity. I would like to give a special thanks to Mike for continuing to support my various roles. I am honored to work with all of you.” 

Formerly serving as an accountant, Lopez has worked in the district for nearly 20 years. As fiscal director, Lopez will continue preparing financial budget reports related to the county. He has also worked in alliance with Associate Superintendent of Business Services, Mike Mathiesen.

“We are so grateful to have had you this whole time and to now have you as a right hand person for Mike,” Walter said. 

Mathiesen also shared his enthusiasm for Lopez’s new position at the board meeting. 

“It’s exciting to have [him] taking this internal promotion over his career at MVLA,” Mathesian said. “So we’re looking forward to continuing to work together. It’s also an opportunity for growth [that will] support him and help him reach new heights as fiscal director.”
