Spartan boys basketball preview

With the Mountain View Boys varsity basketball team getting ready for the 2012-2013 basketball season, they will try and improve their commendable 10-2 record in league from last year. Coach Jim Forthoffer has been working really hard in the off-season by making the players lift weights and work on plays. The team will be playing in the rough and jagged De Anza league again. Forthoffer explained that the season’s toughest matches will be against Saint Francis and Palo Alto. Another challenge for the team will be tournaments, where Mountain View might face some of the toughest teams in Northern California.

The team will be led by two returning starters, seniors Nick Wang, who plays guard, and Brian Kaestner, who plays forward.

“They both will give us versatility and experience,” Forthoffer said. “They have seen all types of teams and

defenses that we are going to face.”

Another challenge the team faces is height, as some other teams in the league have players that are much taller.

“We are going to have to depend on our team defense and and unselfish play,” Forthoffer said. “We play better together as a team not as individuals.”
