Cross Country League Finals

On Tuesday, November 5th, the Mountain View cross country team competed in the El Camino League finals at Crystal Springs in Belmont. The MV varsity girls team came in 2nd, with the varsity boys team placing 5th out of teams from 7 different schools at the meet.

The varsity girls team did very well in the race, with three runners placing in the top ten in a race of over 60 people. Senior Melissa Reed came in 3rd place, with juniors Amy Lynch and Carina Gwennap coming in 6th and 7th. Scores for the race were based on the top five runners for each team, so the times of senior Laura Reynolds(12th place) and freshman Alexandra Brown(29th place) also counted towards the varsity girls team’s total score.

The varsity boys team did not do as well as the girls team, coming in 5th place out of seven schools. The top runner from Mountain View was junior Zheng Tian, coming in 10th place. Also counting towards the varsity boys total score were junior Matthew Vera(23rd place), senior Cannon Wong(24th place), junior Kyle Bystrom(28th place) and sophomore Lukas Wiborg(31st place).

The MV girls JV team came in 5th place, with top five runners Dominique Lau, Casey Chien, Corinna Lee, Ryan Sturges and Ingrid Nunn.

The MV boys Frosh Soph team came in 7th place at the meet, with top MV performances from Mathias Guillen, Scott Bowers, Ryan Lund, Will shearer and Anders Eckburg.
