Cafeteria holds summer job faire

Cafeteria holds summer job faire

On March 27th at lunch, local businesses will culminate in a collective fair filled with job opportunities for students in our cafeteria. Whether you’re interested in volunteering or being hired, the Teen Job Fair arriving on the Mountain View High School campus will be advantageous to all students.

From 2:30 to 3:30, employers will be looking to hire high school students for local jobs or offer volunteer openings at places like LaserQuest, McDonald’s, the El Camino YMCA, Jamba Juice, Baskin Robbins, and GoVoluntr.

The fair, organized and brought to our school by the City of Mountain View Recreation Division, City of Los Altos Recreation Department, NOVA and Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District, offers a distinct selection of business connections in our community. The fair will contain immediate job applications that students can fill right on the spot and face-to-face communication with potential managers.

Our school’s cafeteria will be host to this event and being prepared is crucial for success. The steps you should take in order to be ready for this Wednesday are as followed:

Come up with a resume before you go to the fair and feature some of your best accomplishments along with achievements. Describe to employers why you are the best candidate for the job.

Dress accordingly- while everyone likes casual and comfy clothes, it’s better to make a good impression with some appropriate and professional attire. Surprisingly, clothing may boost your chances in obtaining your job if the employers see how serious and interested you are.

Design a list of jobs you’d be looking into before you arrive. Being on top of the game will be a key factor- knowing what you want can make all the difference. Instead of blindly searching around the fair looking for something that perks your interest, make a list in advance so you can find the right stations first and snag an application before anyone else. Along with creating a list of potential jobs you’d like, think of some questions that could help make sure you’re making the right decision. Find out if a position is too time consuming or not right for you before you commit to a job.

As the fair itself advertises- it “sure is sweet to have a job!”
